According to reports, the incident took place at 3.30 am near the temple on the western nada. A godown and the post office were gutted in the fire.

"The fire had completely razed the godown where postal letters were stored and also the nearby post office," reported Mathrubhumi.

Though the exact reason for the fire is not known yet, the report said that a heap of waste dumped near the site could have triggered the fire.

The fire has been brought under control and an inquiry has been ordered.
