The Delhi High Court refused to implead LG-appointee ACB Chief M K Meena as party in Delhi govt's plea challenging constitutional validity of Centre's May 21 notification.
The Delhi High Court on Monday refused to entertain AAP government's plea to restrain MK Meena from entering ACB office.
The court on Monday said, "MK Meena will remain ACB head and will function in accordance with law." The court even issued notice to the Centre.
Mukesh Kumar Meena, a Delhi police joint commissioner, was appointed as the Anti-corruption Bureau's chief two weeks ago by the Lt Governor Najeeb Jung.
But, Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his government had already chosen another officer for the same post and hence protested.
On Friday, the AAP nominee for the post, SS Yadav had accused Meena of threatening and pressuring him and trying to hamper the functioning of the anti-graft body.
"Meena is trying to threaten and pressurise me into providing FIRs filed with the Anti-Corruption Bureau pertaining to Delhi Police officials and interfering in the working of ACB. He wanted to take the FIR book out of ACB headquarters, which is not allowed in the first place. And, secondly, he is not even authorised to do it. ACB reports to the Directorate of Vigilance and not to him," Yadav had said then.
The same day, the AAP government had decided to file a fresh application in the ongoing litigation challenging the Centre's notification giving Lt Governor Najeeb Jung absolute powers to appoint bureaucrats in the national capital.
