In 2010, Shah Faesal of Kupwara created history by becoming the first Kashmiri Muslim to top the civil services. This year, 25-year-old medico Syed Sehrish became the first Muslim woman to qualify IAS/IPS and the second to crack the civil services, in J&K. Syed, who had earlier topped the Kashmir administrative service 2010 examination, got the 118 rank in the civil services. “I did MBBS but was always inclined towards civil service. I wanted to serve people and therefore applied for KAS. But my dream was to get into all India services,” Syed said.
