Panun Kashmir, an organisation representing displaced Kashmiri Pandits, on Wednesday appreciated the "prompt and sensitive" response of the Centre and Army to the floods in Jammu and Kashmir.

"We appreciate the prompt and sensitive response of the Government of India to the unprecedented and catastrophic flood situation in Jammu and Kashmir," a joint statement of Panun Kashmir chairman Ajay Chrungoo and Convenor Agnishekher said here today.

While heart goes out to the victims of the tragedy, it is heartening to see the Central and state governments, Army, Air Force and Navy rising in unison as one man and rescuing people caught in the floods, it said.Panun Kashmir also appealed to people of the state to contribute in the relief and rescue operations.
