At least five shops were torched and properties were vandalised in Uttar Pradesh’s Kasganj district on Saturday by a mob in a fresh violence.

On Friday, one person died and two were injured after a clash broke out between two communities during 'Tiranga Yatra' in Kasganj city. Both the groups reportedly pelted stones at each other and also fired bullets at each other in which Chandan Gupta died after suffering a bullet injury.

The clash broke out after unauthorised 'yatra was being taken out from a communally-sensitive area and some youths, participating in the rally, allegedly raised objectionable slogans.

On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Police said on Twitter that at least nine persons have been arrested in connection with the incident.

"A special team has also been constituted and we are trying to arrest others involved as well,” police said.

Additional DG (Law and Order) Anand Kumar had earlier said, "It seems the (stone pelting) incident was not pre-planned, but a spontaneous one. The district magistrate, superintendent of police, and Rapid Action Force and PAC personnel have been sent to the spot".
