DMK president Karunanidhi on Sunday greeted Pinarayi Vijayan, Mamata Banerjee and Sarbananda Sonowal who will be taking over the reins of new governments in Kerala, West Bengal and Assam respectively.

In separate messages to each of the leaders, he said, "Please accept my hearty congratulations to you on your assuming office as Chief Minister."

"Very earnestly, I wish you a comfortable and happy tenure as Chief Minister," he said.

"I am quite sure that you will take all necessary steps for further economic growth and prosperity of the naturally-endowed state," he wrote to Vijayan.

In his message to Banerjee, he referred to her big poll win.

"The tremendous faith and confidence the great people of West Bengal have reposed in you have paved the smooth way for you to return to the office of the Chief Minister," he said.

"I am sure you will continue the good work with all enthusiasm and speed for the growth of the state," he said.

Greeting Sonowal, he said, "I am quite sure that you will work for the protection of the people of Assam, irrespective of their religion, as you have publicly promised to the people."
