Counting for 102 urban local bodies polls that took place across Karnataka on August 31 has begun, amid tight security. The polling was held in 2,529 wards, spread over 29 city municipalities, 53 town municipalities and 23 town panchayats, and in 135 wards of three city corporations of the state.
So far, 2629 out of 2709 seats have been declared . Congress won 966 seat, BJP 916 and JD(S) 373. Meanwhile, eight people were injured after an attack on the victory procession of Congress candidate Inayatullah Khan.

Congress – 966
BJP – 916
JDS – 373
BSP – 13
Others -361
Results declared in 2267 seats, Congress wins 846, BJP 788 and JD(S) 307.

Congress-JD(S) have won 52% of the declared seats till now.

The civic election was earlier scheduled to be held in 105 urban local bodies. However, polling in three areas was postponed due to the onset of heavy rains and subsequent flash floods in Kodagu district.
Even though Congress and JD(S) fought separately, they have agreed to come together whenever results are hung. Together they are leading in 60% seats across the state.
According to reports, Kerala CM Kumaraswamy has cancelled all engagements till lunch and is closely following the counting on television.
