Karnataka govt formation: Confident of proving majority, complete five-year tenure, says Yeddyurappa

Newly sworn-in Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa said he will seek the vote of confidence at the earliest. "Because of people's support I have taken the oath for the third time today. I seek the support of all 224 legislators. I am sure to win the vote of confidence and complete the five-year term,'' he told reporters at his maiden press conference.

Yeddyurappa dropped sufficient hint that some of the Congress and JD(S) legislators would extend their support to him during the trust motion on the floor of the state assembly.

"A lot of Congress and JD(S) legislators want a BJP government. They should vote during the trust motion based on their conscience," he noted.

However, he declined to comment on the midnight drama in the Supreme Court but said the matter was in the apex court and he does not want to discuss trust motion here. ''Wait for 24 hours as the matter will be heard in Supreme Court tomorrow,'' he added.

He blasted the Congress and JD(S) for rresorting to protest against his swearing in. He said that Congress and JD(S)  were trying to ''immorally'' form alliance in Karnataka. 

He thanked the people of state for voting to BJP. He announced that his priority will be to fulfill the promise to farmers.  ''I will soon take a decision to waive farm loans soon," he noted. CM informed that he has asked the Chief Secretary to study all the details on the issue. ''The decision on loan waiver will be announced by Friday,'' he noted.

However, former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah alleged that the main guy behind Yeddyurappa taking the oath was Prime Minister Narendra Modi. "Modi is the main guy. He is behind all these games."

He reiterated that BJP lacks adequate numbers to prove majority. Former CM clarified that Congress and JD (S) have numbers to prove though BJP is shoft of numbers. ''I strongly condemn the Governor's decision,'' he noted.
