Karnataka is reeling under a fresh surge of COVID-19 cases. On Friday, Karnataka notified a set of new restrictions to curb the spread of the virus, including suspension of classes for students not appearing in any Board or University exams across the state.

The order states that cinema halls, restaurants, pubs, bars, and clubs will strictly restrict seating capacity to 50% in Bengaluru Urban and Rural, including BBMP, Mysuru, Kalaburgi, Dakshin Kannada, Udupi, Bidar, and Hubballi-Dharwad.

Chief secretary P Ravi Kumar announced that the new order applicable to Bengaluru and seven other districts with a high rate of infection will remain in force till April 20.

Meanwhile, after the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce made a request to the honourable Chief Minister to allow cinema halls to run due to the fact that advanced online bookings have been made because of the non-receipt of advanced notice, the earlier order has been revised.
