Shruti, a 24-year-old Kannada TV serial actress, reportedly committed suicide on Tuesday. A report in The New Indian Express states that she hanged herself at a friend's house in Kachohalli near Madanayakanahalli in Elamangala taluk.
The daily adds that she was married to Umesh, a businessman, and they were living at Harohalli on Kanakapura Road. The actress had been in the Kannada serial Avanu Matthu Shravani.
Police have told the daily that on Tuesday she went to her friend Shrikanth's house for a party. They had been friends for years but at the party, the two of them got into a fight over some issue. She was upset and thus locked herself in a room where she reportedly hung herself from the ceiling.
The report adds that Shrikanth kept knocking on the door but there was no response. This is when he and some friends broke open the door and found her body. They alerted the Madanayakanahalli police who then sent the body for autopsy. The daily adds there were no external injuries on the body.
Shruti's husband has now filed a case against Shrikanth charging him with abetting her suicide. The police have now arrested Shrikanth and investigations are on, adds the daily.
