CHANDIGARH: President A P J Abdul Kalam on Thursday introduced a six-point charter for villagers to achieve all-round prosperity.

Addressing a gathering of villagers in Kapurthala district of Punjab, the President lauded the efforts of Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal for cleaning the  156-km long Kali Bein river of weed and sewage.

He introduced the six-point charter which said that the villagers should clean ponds, they should resolve all family disputes within themselves, plant five fruit trees in every house, stop gambling, treat boys and girls as equals, and put an end to corrupt practices.
