BJP MP from Kairana in Uttar Pradesh, Hukum Singh is no more. He died at Noida's JP Hospital, according to ANI. According to reports, Hukum Singh was suffering from breathing trouble and was hospitalised for the last month.

Hukum Singh was 79 years old. PM Modi and other BJP leaders have expressed their regret on Hukum Singh's demise. 

PM tweeted, " Anguished by the demise of MP and veteran leader from Uttar Pradesh, Shri Hukum Singh Ji. He served the people of UP with great diligence and worked for the welfare of farmers. My thoughts are with his family and supporters in this hour of grief".

Member of the influential Gurjar community, Hukum Singh was Chairman of standing committee of water resources in Parliament. A veteran politician, Singh has been a MLA in UP Assembly for 7 terms and has also served as a state minister. A law graduate, Hukum Singh served in the army during the Indo-China war in 1962 and also in war against Pakistan in 1965. Later he left Army and joined legal profession. After that he joined politics and was initially part of Congress. 

Later he joined BJP and became a MP in 2014. Hukum Singh came into limelight during the controversial Kairana exodus. He said that there was mass exodus of Hindus from his constituency, which attracted lot of controversy. His comment was subsequently vindicated by NHRC report.
