Union Health Minister J P Nadda made a surprise inspection at the Safdarjung Hospital here on Thursday and also took part in the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. Nadda was joined by BJP MP Meenakshi Lekhi in the cleanliness endeavour.The two leaders visited the Safdarjung hospital campus and met the patients in the general wards to know about their health. Besides visiting the wards, the Union Health Minister also visited the toilets and other places in the hospital."The hospitals are centres where cleanliness is of prime importance and I myself keep inspecting hospitals to see that they remain clean," said Nadda. "We all know that someone like our Prime Minister Narendra Modi had started the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and it has turned into a popular movement amongst the people. We, the public representatives are making an effort to accelerate the cleanliness drive," he added.The 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' was launched nationwide on October 2 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to focus on sanitation, hygiene and waste. It encourages people to sweep, remove garbage, debris and unauthorized encroachments from roads, markets and residential places. The cleanliness drive aims at making India a clean country by 2019, the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
