Jodhpur Lok Sabha Election Results 2019 Rajasthan: Gajendra Singh Shekhawat wins for BJP

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was decleared as the winner by 2.7 lakh votes as Congress' Vaibhav Gehlot failed to stop BJP in Jodhpur.

Jodhpur Lok Sabha Election Results 2019: Jodhpur constituency went to polls on April 29 in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha election. BJP's Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and Congress' Vaibhav Gehlot were the key candidates in the fray in 2019. In the 4th phase, a total of 71 seats across 8 states will witness Lok Sabha election 2019.  

Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency profile

Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency consists of eight assembly segments which are Phalodi, Lohawat, Shergarh, Sardapura, Jodhpur, Soorsagar, Luni, Pokaran. The constituency has a presence of Rajput community at large who are likely to play a major role in deciding the mandate in 2019.

Jodhpur constituency holds historical importance. It's of the urban cities in Rajasthan and has a say in defining state politics.

In 2019, senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot's son Vaibhav Gehlot was fielded by the party who contested against BJP's Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. 

It is going to be a debut Lok Sabha election for Vaibhav Gehlot, therefore, it holds significant importance for him.  

BJP's Gajendra Singh Shekhawat was the sitting MP in Jodhpur who defeated Chandresh Kumari of the Congress by a margin of almost 4 lakh votes in 2014.

Rajasthan has a total of 25 parliamentary seats which went to polls in two phases

Rajasthan is one of the key states in the Hindi-belt both the national parties — BJP and Congress — gave a tough competition to each other. Rajasthan has a total of 4,84,79,229 voters.

BJP's alliance in Rajasthan 

The BJP contested polls in alliance with Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Led by Jat leader Hanuman Beniwal, RLP won Khinvsar, Merta and Bhopalgarh seats in 2018 Rajasthan Assembly elections.

Hanuman Beniwal was a former BJP leader who was ousted from the party after his differences with former chief minister Vasundhara Raje. However, after the 2018 assembly election results, which led the BJP to lose the state to Congress, it aligned with the RLP. 

Congress' alliance in Rajasthan

Congress contested all 25 seats in the forthcoming election. However, in assembly election 2018, it allied with Rashtriya Lok Dal led by Ajit Singh, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Sharad Yadav’s Loktantrik Janata Dal. 

Lok Sabha election 2019 were held in 7-phases.
