The Jawaharlal Nehru University kick-started its academic session 2019-20 with an orientation programme on Friday. JNU Vice Chancellor M Jagadesh Kumar said the students deserve appreciation for getting into the JNU.

But the real challenge begins now is in equipping yourselves and developing skills to be able to address the challenges India faces today, he said.

"We should always take the challenges and problems before us as opportunities to improve and excel," Kumar told the students.

"Although India shares with China the glory of being the two most ancient civilisations, it has contributed to the world and its cultures in various ways, but today it also faces many challenges," he said. 

Jawaharlal Nehru University(JNU) declared the resullts for BA (Hons.), MTech, MPH, PGD, COP, ADOP C courses on June 27.

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the JNUEE examinations for Undergraduate, Post Graduate and research programmes in May this year.

The entrance examinations of JNU 2019 admission were conducted between May 27 to May 30, 2019. The answer keys was released on June 8.

Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) had also released the results for Post Graduate entrance exams on Thursday, June 27. On June 23 Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) had declared the results for the entrance examination to 36 Mphil and PhD courses which were conducted last month. The results were released on JNU's admissions website.

JNU is a world-renowned centre for teaching and research established in June 1970. JNU was ranked no 3 among all universities in India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework, Government of India, in 2016 and no 2 in 2017. JNU also received the Best University Award from the President of India in 2017.
