Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) founder Amanullah Khan passed away on Tuesday morning at Rawalpindi in Pakistan. He was 82.

According to reports, Amanullah Khan succumbed to a chronic lung disease after fighting the ailment for a year.

The funeral prayers will take place at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi, on Wednesday, at 11:00 am.

Amanullah Khan was born in Astore area of Gilgit on August 24, 1934.  

He was elected Secretary General of Jammu and Kashmir Plebiscite Front in 1965. In 1976, Amanullah Khan went to England where in May 1977 he formed the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF).

Amanullah Khan is survived by a daughter named Asma.
