Sources told WION that after 8-hours of intense searches, the hiding terrorists were spotted and an intense exchange of gunfire took place.

“In the ensuing encounter, two terrorists were killed and the bodies were retrieved from the site of encounter. Their identities and affiliations are being ascertained,” police said in a statement.

The district was recently declared terror free by the police after an encounter in Baramulla but today’s encounter has caused doubts on the claim.

Remember, this is the second encounter in the valley after a Jaish-e-Mohammad carried out a suicide attack on a CRPF convoy in south Kashmir’s Pulwama on February 14, killing 40 of them and leaving several others injured.
