Jammu and Kashmir police busted a major drug cartel and seized 51 kg high grade Afghanistan-version heroin, valuing Rs 250 crore in the international market, in Jammu city on Monday. Police are not ruling out narco-terror angle into the recovery of the cache.

The heroin was concealed in 51 packets in a false ceiling created inside a truck that was coming from Handwara in North Kashmir's Kupwara district and was on its way to Punjab. Two people, including the driver, Gurdeep Singh of Punjab and Ravi Kumar of Jammu, have been arrested.

"Jammu police achieved major success when they busted a drug module and recovered the biggest cache of heroin. We got specific information and developed it further," said Dr Shiv Dharshan Singh Jamwal, inspector general of police (IGP), Jammu Zone.
