J&K: Encounter underway in Uri; 1 terrorist killed, 2 more believed to be trapped
An encounter is underway between the security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri area in Baramulla sector.
At least one terrorist was killed on Sunday in an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri area in Baramulla sector.
According to reports, two to three more terrorists have been trapped.
"Cordon was laid and search operation started in Kalgai area of Uri this morning following information about presence of militants in the area," an Army official said.
He said the search operation tuned into an encounter after the militants opened fire on the security forces.
The civilian population has been evacuated from the area and the operation is still going on," he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, a grenade attack by the terrorists in South Kashmir's Tral claimed lives of at least three citizens and injured 17 CRPF personnel.​
