Jharkhand government criticised for increase in Maoist violence
'On one hand chief minister Shibu Soren in his written speech in the house says Maoists are anti-national and on the other hand his tells the media that Maoists are his brethern,' Congress MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed said.
The opposition hit out at the Shibu Soren government today accusing it of being responsible for increase in Maoist violence for its negative approach. "On one hand chief minister Shibu Soren in his written speech in the house says Maoists are anti-national and on the other hand his tells the media that Maoists are his brethern," Congress MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed said. Participating in the debate during home department's budgetary grant, Ahmed claimed work culture and negative approach in the state should be changed for a 'new dawn' in the state. Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric) MLA Samresh Singh alleged that Maoists had been used for political gains, while JVM-P-LP leader Pradip Yadav criticised Soren's media statement that the Centre had not taken Jharkhand into confidence when joint operations by Jharkhand and West Bengal police against the ultras were launched on March 7. Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch MLA Bandhu Tirkey suggested policemen posted at any police station should have knowledge of the local tribal dialect as a Munda or a Ho does not know Santhali and vice versa. He also alleged that Maoists pay Rs1500 to Rs2000 to local unemployed youth to work for them. "Why does not the government give employment to such youths and pay Rs5000 to wean them away?" he asked.
