The legislators accused the Central government of slashing funds due to Bihar under schemes like MGNREGA and IAY, and reduction in funds for construction and maintenance of roads among others.

Lawmakers who attended the dharna near the Gandhi Maidan included Sadanand Singh (Congress), Durga Prasad (RJD) and Gautam Singh (JD-U). They charged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with making a U-turn on his promise made during poll campaigning to provide special status and package to Bihar.

The protesters also attacked union ministers from Bihar for their 'failure' to raise state-specific issues at the cabinet and putting pressure on the government to release funds to the state government to step up development. A mass awareness campaign on these issues will be held throughout Bihar soon, JD(U) state unit spokesperson Niraj Kumar said.
