Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa on Thursday sought the release of central share of Rs. 1550 crores towards disbursement of post matric scholarships to students belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in the state. In a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, she has said the amount includes arrears of last year. She has mentioned in the letter that the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment could not disburse the amount due to insufficient fund allocation to it.
She has said, to help the poor students to proceed with their post-matric education, the fund needs to be released at the earliest.
