“The central government is doing this to Reddy’s to bring an end to the BJP parthy in the Karnataka state and also to stop the growth of Reddy’s in the politics,” said Bellary district president of BJP Guttiganooru Virupakshagowda.

His supporters took out a rally in the city and burnt effigies of Congress leaders.

Though shops remained open, people preferred to stay indoors, fearing violent reactions from Reddy’s supporters.

Meanwhile, former minister Sriramulu, a close aide of the Reddy brothers, slammed the Centre for using the CBI to terrorize BJP leaders in the state.

Addressing a press conference in Mysore, he said: “The CBI has been tutored by Congress leaders to attack Jagan Mohan Reddy in Andhra Pradesh and Janardhana Reddy in Karnataka.”
