BJP working president J P Nadda convenes high-level meeting ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections
Bracing for the upcoming elections in three states - Maharashtra, Jharkhand and Haryana - the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) working president J P Nadda convened a high-level meeting of party's national secretaries and joint general secretaries (organisation) on Friday. Not leaving anything to chance upon, despite the high popularity quotient of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the meeting went through the presentations on the BJP's preparedness and campaigning for the upcoming assembly polls.
The meeting discussed threadbare agenda and issues on which the party would contest the elections, sources said. As was evident from Nadda's speech in Kanpur on Thursday, the BJP's entire strategy for the assembly elections is likely to revolve around the abrogation of special status of Jammu and Kashmir and the opposition to it by the Congress and other rival parties.
The Election Commission is expected to announce the poll dates early next week.

Sources said the party's agenda has been finalised to the last detail in the meeting.
General secretaries, who are in-charge of different states such as Anil Jain is for Haryana and Saroj Pandey for Maharashtra, also shared details about preparedness of their respective state units for the assembly polls.
The meeting also decided to celebrate PM Modi's birthday for the entire week (September 14 to 20) as Sewa Saptah. The Sewa Saptah will be inaugurated at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) by union home minister Amit Shah and Nadda on September 14.
