Jammu and Kashmir: Army soldier kills himself in Kupwara camp, third such incident in two weeks

This is third incident in last two weeks when an army personal killed himself. Earlier two incidents happened in Srinagar.

An army solider allegedly died by suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in his camp in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

 

“Gunner Trived Prakash posted at Kachhal, Keran Sector, Kupwara was found dead due to fire from service weapon, at sentry post on 07 Mar 21. Circumstances and reason of his death are being investigated. It is clarified that the fatal injury did not occur due to any Ceasefire Violations,” read an army statement.

 

The solider identified as Triverd Prakash of D-Coy 06 RR took the extreme step at Shakti post Keran.  This is third incident in last two weeks when an army personal killed himself. Earlier two incidents happened in Srinagar.

 

On March 3, an army officer allegedly shot himself dead at an Army depot in Khonmoh area of Jammu and Kashmir.

 

In another incident, a 24-year-old soldier shot himself dead on March 3 with his service weapon at an army camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district, officials said.
