Beyond the buzz and the bandobast in Gurmeet Ram Rahim case, one man who needs special mention is Special CBI Judge Jagdeep Singh.

Singh, an additional district and sessions judge rank official, sent the Dera Sacha Sauda chief to 20 years in jail on Monday.

The judge showed nerves of steel when despite pressure from Dera followers he remained unfazed and pronounced the judgment at Panchkula court on Friday.

With no-nonsense attitude, Singh is known as very competent, tough and upright judge, a Hindustan Times report said.

A Panjab University law graduate, Singh was in news last year when he stopped his car and helped four accident victims. He took them to nearby Jind hospital after the emergency service told him that the ambulances won't fly in.

A man of few words, Singh likes to keep low profile. This is his second posting. Before that, he was posted as judicila offer in Sonepat in 2012.

For Monday's sentencing, he was specially flown in from Chandigarh to Rohtak in a chopper.

Even during the proceedings, he kept his cool and delivered the jail term without any drama.

On the other hand was the convict, Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who according to reports howled like a child and kept on crying, 'koi mujhe bacha lo.'
