Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today expressed grief and concern at the reported suicide of a farmer at Chanho in Ranchi district and announced Rs 2 lakh assistance to the bereaved family.

Saying that he is hurt by the incident, Das directed the officials of district agriculture department, krishak mitra and panchayat sevaks to give feedback on the situation of villages and farmers, an official release said here.

He also directed officials to give immediate relief if they found any farmer is in tension due financial constraints or any other reason.

The chief minister asked block development officers, circle officers and other employees to coordinate and keep a vigil on the situation of farmers, the release said.

The farmer reportedly committed suicide on July 18.
