After the news of Shaheen Tanki's "death" spread, his family feels he will soon come back from Iraq. This is because, it was a few days after the news of Areeb Majeed's "death" had been reported that he returned to India via Turkey. Majeed is now in the custody of NIA.

Tanki's parents were shocked when they heard he had died, and were scared to talk to anyone. They however told dna that they now felt confident he was alive and would return. But they haven't heard from him so far.

One of Tanki's close relatives said: "Similar news had spread about Areeb Majeed. Tanki was also in the same place as Majeed. We know he is alive and will return, not alone, but with the other two boys (Aman Tandel and Fahad Shaikh). They have not called so far. That may be because they might be in some place from where it's not safe to communicate. We are in touch with NIA officials. On Thursday NIA officials said they had not received any such news (death of Tanki). However, after rumors about his death spread, families of the other two boys are upset. We have urged NIA to look into who was spreading rumours."

Aman Tandel's father, Naeem, said, "We are clueless. We have not received any message from the boys or their friends. We don't know who has been spreading these rumours. We hope all the three return safely. However, people at home are upset after hearing the 'news'".

Fahad Shaikh's father, Tanveer, said: "NIA officials have denied the 'news'. We hope our children return." A senior official in cyber cell of Thane commissionerate said, "We are investigating whether there is any truth in the news. So far we haven't found anything."
