Unhappy with the CBI’s slow investigation, Shamima Kausar, mother of Ishrat Jahan, has demanded that the Gujarat high court directly monitor the fake encounter case in which her daughter and three others were killed.

In a petition filed in the Gujarat high court on Friday, Kausar alleged that the CBI had developed cold feet and had done little despite the fact that the high court had handed over the case to it over a year ago.

A bench of the Gujarat high court sought detailed progress report from the CBI on January 10, 2013 and posted the next hearing of the case on January 11. The court also heard arguments on the first status report submitted by the CBI in the Ishrat Jahan fake encounter case and also on the agency’s request for the services of IPS officer Satish Verma for six months more.
