In yet another attack on Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, the Indian National Congress has raised questions about Modi being pro-market or pro-Adani. According to the Congress, Modi has given Gautam Adani 15,946.32 acres of land for Re 1 to Rs 32 per square metre, pushing aside all rules and regulations. In comparison to this 'Re 1', Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, TCS, Ford India and Torrent Power have paid between 670 to 6,000 times more per square meter. The party claims Narendra Modi favouring Adani has led to the latter's fortunes rising from $765 million in 2002 to $8.8 billion in 2013. They also claim that the economists have called such favouritism as 'crony capitalism'. Modi has laid a red carpet for Adani by giving him land at throwaway prices. According to Gujarat state reports, no other company has been given land at such rock bottom prices.
