IRCTC starts special Pitra Paksha train: Know package, ticket price and other details

The IRCTC has announced a special 'Pilgrim Special Tourist Trains’ during Pitru Paksha, a 16-day period in the month of Ashwin when people pay respects to their deceased elders. The train started from Secunderabad on Saturday and it will cover destinations like Gaya, Prayagraj, and Varanasi. The bookings for the same can be done through the official website of IRCTC- www.irctctourism.com. 

Kranti Savarkar, manager of IRCTC’s East Zone at Bhubaneswar, said, “We have launched a new train named ‘Pilgrim Special Tourist Train’ and package is called ‘Mahalaya Pind Daan Package’. This will be the first time after the second wave of Covid-19 that such facility will be provided to the passengers by the railways. The train will start from Secunderabad and run via Bhubaneswar."

The package will cover Varanasi, Prayagraj and Gaya and boarding and de-boarding points are: Secunderabad, Kazipet, Khammam, Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry, Samalkot, Tuni, Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Srikakulam, Brahmapur, Khurda Road, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack,  Jajpur Keonjhar Road, Bhadrak,  Balasore, Hijli, Tatanagar and Bokaro Steel City.

The duration of the trip will be six nights and seven days and will depart from Secunderabad on September 25 at 00:05 hrs.

The price of the standard package is Rs 6,620 per person while that of the comfort package is Rs 11,030 per person. 

The package will include hall/Dormitories accommodation on multi-sharing basis for night stay/ morning freshening up, morning Tea/Coffee, Pure vegetarian meals (Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner). & 1 litre drinking water per person per day. 

It will also include, tour escorts, security arrangements for each coach (without arms), an IRCTC Official on the train as train Superintendent and non-AC road transfers on an SIC basis.
