After the alleged suicide of a senior police officer, Gaurav Dutt in Kolkata, BJP leader Mukul Roy has been attacking Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee.

Roy has demanded the arrest of Banerjee for abetment to suicide and has also said that there should be a CBI probe into the case.

"This is for the first time in the history of West Bengal that a senior IPS officer committed suicide and blamed the government or a party leader," Roy said.

In the purported 'suicide note', the Dutt accused Banerjee of abetting his suicide by keeping him on "compulsory waiting" - a punitive step when an officer is not given a posting - and for withholding his dues after he retired on December 31, 2018.

The 'suicide note' had gone viral on social media.

In the note, Dutt has said, "Present CM WB has victimised me for 10 years and went all out to demoralise me due to her single-minded vendetta against me for reasons best known to her."

He alleged in his note that the CM had blocked his honest hard earned savings. "This vindictiveness of CM is unparalleled," Dutt wrote.

The retired IPS officer also wrote that after his step, the government will be bound to release his savings.

He said he decided to take the step to highlight problems of "genuine" officers in Bengal. "If one can't live with honour it is better to die with honour," Dutt wrote.

"She (Mamata Banerjee) has a strong inhuman quality to use and discard IPS officers," Dutt alleged and added that only her favourites get a palatial bungalow, SUVs.

Gaurav Dutt was a 1986 batch IPS officer.

On Tuesday, Dutt's wife returned home to find him in a pool of blood at his Salt Lake home.

His wrists were slit. He was immediately taken to the hospital but did not survive.

The state government is tight-lipped about the incident.

According to sources, none of the dues mentioned in the note were pending and Dutt was on compulsory waiting because of disciplinary proceedings initiated against him.

Dutt was suspended for nine months from February 2010 for "conduct unbecoming of an officer".

If reports are to be believed, Gaurav Dutt was suspended after the wife of a constable complained that he had tortured her husband because he had refused the officer's sexual advances.

In 2012, he had again faced disciplinary action for alleged financial irregularities.

Meanwhile, Mukul Roy has urged the IPS association to take up the cause of Dutt.
