Indore: Thieves target vacant houses, flee with cash, jewellery, valuables

Unidentified thieves targeted a vacant house and made away with booty worth lakhs of rupees in Lasudia area on Sunday evening.

The incident reported in Gulab Bagh Colony at the house of one, Kshama Prasad Tiwari, manager at Bajarang Agro Private Limited. Tiwari had gone along with his family members to meet their relatives residing in Mhow around 1 pm.

When the family returned around 7pm, they found the house in disarray. Lock at main gate of the house was intact while the second gate was broke open by unknown thieves.

"The thieves broke open all three safes kept in the house and made away with Rs 3 lakh, gold and silver jewellery worth lakhs of rupees" said the investigating officer, SI Raghuwanshi further adding that total worth of the booty would be ascertained after calculating worth of the stolen jewellery.

Despite the facts that the crime occurred during broad day light, no one noticed the thieves while entering the house. A theft complaint was registered at Lasudia police station while further investigation was on.

In another theft incident reported in Dwarkapuri area late on Saturday evening, the thieves struck at a vacant house and decamped with booty worth thousand of rupees.

Prabhudas Bairagi lodged a theft complaint at Chandan Nagar police station stating that he had to attend a religious event along with his family when thieves entered house and decamped with gold and silver jewellery and some household items. In another incident, thieves made away with wristwatch and valuables kept in a car parked near a shopping mall. Charmy, a resident of Vidhya Nagar lodged a complaint at Vijay Nagar police station alleging that thieves opened his car's door that was parked near C21 Mall and made away with wristwatch, computer speakers and some other electronic goods kept there.
