The Indore Development Authority (IDA) on Thursday decided to seek opinion of housing board on the controversial allotment of 372 sq m land to MLA Choudhary Rakesh Singh Chaturvedi.

The Bhind MLA, who recently joined BJP from Congress after denting the latter's no-confidence motion moved in the Assembly in July this year, is accused in some media reports of having received multiple allotment of land in MLA quota in Indore, Gwalior and Bhopal.

The IDA had allotted the land in Scheme Number 114 (part 2) on AB Road to Singh in September 2003, but had served him several notices after objections were raised on the allotment by a fellow legislator since 2008. The complainant had claimed that more than one piece of land could not be allotted to any MLA under the legislators' quota.

Chaturvedi, who had refrained from replying to the notices, is believed to have submitted a reply on July 22, 11 days after he joined BJP after flaying Congress leaders during the proceedings of no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the assembly.

IDA chief executive officer Deepak Singh told mediapersons here that the MLA had claimed that at the time of IDA land allotment, housing board had only reserved plot for him, so he is entitled for plot allotment from IDA. The MLA is also believed to have accepted having received houses in Gwalior in November 2006 and in Bhopal in October 2011. The IDA CEO said that opinion was also sought from Housing and Environment Department on further move.
