Indore: Civic body felicitates advance tax payers

Buoyed by advanced revenue recovery of Rs 76 crore, the Indore Municipal Corporation (IMC) on Wednesday conducted a lucky draw to select advance tax payers as of the winners of attractive gifts including cars and scooters the civic body planned as incentive for the scheme.

Revenue department in-charge Chandurao Shinde said the IMC had made and advanced tax recovery of Rs 76 crore during the collection exercise, which was Rs 9 crore more that what was collected for as advance tax for this fiscal.He said 1.03 lakh people had paid the advanced property tax and 32,911 people paid advanced water cess before June 30. The IMC had also offered a rebate of 6.25 per cent to the tax payers on depositing property/water tax before designated period. Jagdish Narayan Chouhan of Sudama Nagar has been named as the recipient of a Maruti Alto car - the first prize for advance property tax payer during the lucky draw conducted at the IMC hall.

A Honda Activa scooter was the second prize designated for payers of advanced property tax. The winners were Seema Upadhyay of Devi Ahilya Marg, Suresh Parkhi of Umesh Ngagar and Gopal Ganghrade of Sudama Nagar.

The IMC had decided to gift LED televisions to the third prize winners of the property tax. The winners were Shashi Kishore of Vandana Nagar, Shashikant Deshpande of PRagati Nagar and Blkkue Star builders of South Tukoganj.

Advanced water cess payers were also in for a surprise. Through the lucky draw, the IMC decided to give laptops to Urmila Singh of Shriji Vatika and Mukesh Jayantilal of Seeta Park Colony as first prizes.

Washing machines and microwave ovens were in line for second and third prize winners, respectively. The second prize was won by Shri Govindram Sakseria Institute of Technology and Sciences (SGSITS) and Arun Raghuvanshi of Raghuvanshi Colony.

The third prize winners were Darshan Singh of Anup Nagar and Pannalal Bhakroda of Tilak Nagar.
