India will for the first time validate ‘swarming’ tactics in their joint naval exercise with Sri Lanka to foil attacks carried out by small, fast boats like in the case of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. The joint exercise, called Slinex-2011, is resuming after 2006 and is likely to be held in October around the Lankan waters in Trincomalee. A source said there would be four to five destroyer ships from each navy. The drill will include validation of the new swarming concept.
