Former Uttarakhand minister and senior Congress leader Indira Hridayesh will be the Leader of Opposition in the state Assembly.

State Congress chief Kishore Upadhyay said here today that the decision was taken at the Congress Legislative party meeting attended party's state affairs in-charge Ambika Soni and former Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

Hridayesh is the MLA from Haldwani Assembly constituency.

Upadhyay said that Karan Mahra, the party MLA from Ranikhet, has been appointed as the deputy leader of the legislature party.

Hridayesh thanked the party high command and said that she is ready to handle her responsibilities as the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly.
