Indian Institute of Management, Indore run to spread awareness against discrimination

Keeping its tradition of embracing burning social issues, the Indian Institute of Management, Indore (IIM-I) will attempt to spread awareness with the theme Run against Rape and Discrimination during the Indore Marathon scheduled on October 2.

The intended message of the theme has been made evident with this year's Marathon logo which shows a lady running and breaking across a barbed-wire finish line to signify victory over the evil forces that suffocate half of the population and hold the society back from civilization, an official release said.

The planned stretch for the marathon on D-Day would span for 11 kilometres starting from Dussehra Maidan to the IIM-I campus.

There will be transport vehicles to help the participants in commuting from their home to the starting point. Paramedical support and volunteers will be stationed at key points to provide required support like medical help, glucose and water. IIM Indore has increased the number of prize categories for the Indore Marathon on the basis of age to encourage participants from different age groups. There would be 50 prize winners in age groups 18-25, 25-35, 35-50, above 50 years and military.

The prizes carry `20,000 (first), `10,000 (second), `5000 (third), `2500 (fourth) and `1000 (fifth).

Registrations for the Marathon have already begun with participants from all walks of life signing up for the event.

College students, doctors, athletes, defence personnel, corporate people and NGOs will take part in the spirit of the noble cause.

The organisers have managed to widely promote the event and attract more participants this year with their constant efforts of keeping the audience updated and engaged with online poetry, blog competitions and sports quizzes with attractive prizes. Citizens across Bhopal would observe a 3 km Mini Marathon on September 27, 2013 for scaling up the event.

As a part of IIM Indore Foundation Day celebrations, a one and half day (October 2ndand 3rd) conference on Creating and Sustaining Institutions: Indian Experience is being organised.
