Indian Air Force MIG-27 crashes near Jodhpur, pilot safe

Pilot managed to escape before the plane crash landed.

An Indian Air Force MIG 27 plane has crashed in outskirts of Jodhpur, Rajasthan according to Zee Media reports. The fighter plane crashed in a area which comes under the jurisdiction of Banad police station of Jaipur East. The pilot managed to come out safely before the plane crash-landed. The accident took place around Devaliya village near Banad. The aircraft had taken off from the IAF's Jodhpur airbase.

Fortunately, the plane crashed in an empty field. So there was no loss of life. The plane has been reduced to a massive ball of fire and fire authorities have rushed to the spot to control the blaze. Senior air force and police authorities have also reached the crash site.

"A MiG 27 aircraft airborne from Jodhpur crashed during a routine mission today morning. Pilot ejected safely. A Court of Inquiry will investigate the cause of the accident," he said. Deputy Commissioner, Jodhpur, Amandeep Singh said no loss of life has been reported in the crash.Singh and other police officials have reached the spot and cordoned off the area.
