Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while delivering his address in Aligarh, said that India as a country is no longer known as just a defence importer, but is on a rising path to becoming a major defence exporter in the near future.

PM Modi, before his speech, also visited the exhibition models of the Aligarh node of the UP Defence Industrial Corridor. He was also accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Later, the prime minister also laid down the foundation stone of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh State University in Aligarh.

During his speech, PM Modi said, “Today, not only the country, but the world is also seeing that from modern grenades and rifles to fighter aircraft, drones, and warships are being manufactured in India itself. India is moving towards making a new identity of a defence exporter.”

Apart from talking about the defence aspect of the country, PM Modi also extended his greetings to the people on the occasion of Radha Ashtami. He further said that former CM Kalyan Singh’s presence is missing from this holy occasion.

PM Modi said, “It's a big day for Aligarh and west UP. The occasion of Radha Ashtami today makes it more holy. I wish you all a happy Radha Ashtami. I'm missing former CM Kalyan Singh's presence today. He would've been very happy with the development of Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh University.”

The prime minister also talked about how the Uttar Pradesh government and CM yogi Adityanath have been working towards the development of the state, and UP has become an attractive place for investors from across the country.

CM Yogi Adityanath, who was also present alongside PM Modi, said, “I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for saving both lives and livelihood of the people in the country during the COVID pandemic.”

The university set up in Aligarh has been named after Raja Mahendra Pratap Singh, to honour his works as a great freedom fighter, educationist and social reformer.
