After 'mysterious' monoliths were spotted in different parts of the world, India also marked its first appearance of such a monolith in a park in Ahmedabad.

The mysterious monolith evoked a lot of intrigue after its appearance at the Symphony Forest Park on the SG Highway on Thursday (December 31). It is similar in look to other monoliths, with shiny metal sheets that form the three-sided structure.

The suspense factor did not remain as it was revealed that a private company was responsible for installing the monolith.

The Indian Express quoted the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's assistant director of parks and gardens, Dilipbhai Patel, as saying that the monolith was installed by the private firm that was responsible for developing and maintaining the park.

The structure still created a lot of buzz among the residents and other people. Many visited with their friends to click their selfies, as these monoliths have a history of disappearing after some time.

The first such monolith appeared in a remote desert of Utah in the United States, where it disappeared after a few days. Similar structures were later spotted in as many as 30 countries around the world, including the United Kingdom and France.

There have been different theories shared on social media about the origin of these monoliths. While some believed that these monoliths are works of art with a similar project being reported in the 1960s, others said that different artists and science fiction lovers were putting them up in different locations across the world.

The Ahmedabad monolith was reportedly installed at the park on December 29 but it only came to gain popularity once people started visiting on December 31.

The Symphony Forest Park is managed by Symphony Ltd and the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation. It was virtually inaugurated by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani among other projects last month.
