India-China hold 11th round of military talks, agree to avoid 'new incidents' at LAC in Eastern Ladakh

The Union Ministry of Defence on Sunday (April 10) said that India and China concluded the 11th round of military talks and both sides have agreed to avoid any 'new incidents' and jointly maintain peace along Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The Ministry of Defence said in an official statement that the 11th round of India-China Corps Commander Level Meeting was held at the Chushul-Moldo border meeting point on April 9 and New Delhi and Beijing had a detailed exchange of views for the resolution of the remaining issues related to disengagement along LAC.

The statement added that both sides have also agreed to resolve the outstanding issues in an expeditious manner keeping in mind the existing agreements and protocols. 

"The two sides agreed that it was important to take guidance from the consensus of their leaders, continue their communication and dialogue and work towards a mutually acceptable resolution of the remaining issues at the earliest. They also agreed to jointly maintain stability on the ground, avoid any new incidents and jointly maintain peace in the border areas," said the Ministry of Defence.

It may be recalled that the 10th round of military talks between India and China was held on February 20, 2021, where the two nuclear-powered nationS held discussions over disengagement at friction areas like Hot Springs, Gogra and 900 square km Depsang plains.

It is to be noted that the disengagement process has taken place peacefully at both banks of Pangong Lake. On February 10, it was announced by China that New Delhi and Beijing had agreed to disengage at Pangong Lake.
