PM Modi, while delivering his Independence Day 2023 address, announced the Vishwakarma Yojana which will benefit people who possess traditional skills.
While delivering the Independence Day 2023 speech from the Red Fort today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a mega-scheme which will provide benefits to those who want to expand on their traditional skills. This government scheme is called Vishwakarma Yojana.
PM Modi, while announcing the launch of the scheme, said at Red Fort, “In the coming months we will launch Vishwakarma yojana for those who work with their tools, such as goldsmiths, ironsmiths, washermen, hair-dressers and masons who mostly come from the OBC class."
Vishwakarma Scheme was announced in the Budget 2023. The PM Vishwakarma Scheme aims at improve the quality, scale and reach of products and services of artisans and craftspeople and to integrate them with the domestic and global value chain.
Revealing further details about the new scheme, PM Modi said at the Red Fort that the Rs 13,000 crore to Rs 15,000 crore will be allocated to the Vishwakarma Yojana over the next month to promote those who have traditional skills.
This would result in the economic empowerment of such workers, especially those belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Communities, women, transgender and other weaker sections of the society.
As announced previously, the scheme will be launched in September on the Vishwakarma Jayanti, which falls on September 17, 2023. PM Modi pointed out the role of women in the promotion of such arts, as well as taking India to new heights of development.
During his speech at the Red Fort, PM Modi said, “Our goal is to strengthen the economy, empower the people, and make India a developed country. It's Modi's Guarantee that within the next 5 years, I'll place India in the list of Top-3 economies of the world.”
Further slamming the Opposition, the prime minister said that corruption and appeasement politics have damaged the country and noted that political parties who believe in dynastic politics have one mantra – “party of the family, by the family and for the family”.
