In order to inspire students by informing them about the gallant efforts of the personnel of the armed forces, the Indian Army wants a book on such soldiers as a part of school syllabus. Army Chief General Bipin Rawat said the Army has written to the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), requesting to include a book highlighting heroics of Indian soldiers in school syllabus.

General Rawat was in Pune to attend a function to felicitate teachers, organised by BN Srivastava foundation, on Thursday.

"In order to honour our martyrs, we have approached the HRD ministry, requesting them that their bravery and tales of supreme sacrifice should be taught in schools," he said.

"The armed forces have recently published a book on gallantry award winning soldiers. We have requested to include the book in school syllabus across the country. The minister has positively responded, and we are hopeful that the book will be part of the CBSE syllabus by next year," Rawat said.

Rawat also stated that the Army is coming up with an informative gallery, depicting the heroics of soldiers across universities and colleges in the country.

"Efforts have been made to display pictures and information and records of achievements of the personnel from the forces in various colleges and universities. So far, we have managed to reach out to nearly 200 colleges and universities. Our aim is to reach out to every university and college of the country in the next couple of years," Rawat said.
