Hectic backroom negotiations are going on in the Congress party with rebel leader Harish Rawat to find a solution for Uttarakhand crisis before the trust vote on March 29.

The Rawat camp is confident of helping the Congress sail through during the trust vote, as sources said the remaining 14 new elected MLAs have been asked to go back to Uttarakhand and take oath on March 25. Meanwhile, there were indications Rawat may climb down on some demands. However, he is still keen on the Speaker’s chair for Jageshwar MLA Govind Singh Kunjwal, and wants a Rajya Sabha berth for his confidante Mahender Singh Mahar. Mahar is expected to file his nomination paper on March 30.
