Soaked in festive spirit, people across the national capital celebrated Holi on Thursday with splash of colours and savouring of sweets and cutting across religious lines greeted each other to send out a message of peace and harmony.

Even politicians got into festive mood and celebrated Holi with colours and joy.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi celebrated Holi at AICC headquarters and also greeted people on the occasion of the festival of colours.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia too enjoyed the day with colours and festivities as people queued up to greet him on the occasion.

"Played holi wid my family, volunteers, ministers, MLAs, officers, autowallas n my dear junta. Happy Holi," Kejriwal tweeted.

BJP President Amit Shah also got into festive mood with a swarm of party workers coming to greet him and play Holi.

"Heartiest greetings to all on the joyous mega festival of Holi," Shah tweeted.

The festival was celebrated with fervour and gaiety across Bihar with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD chief Lalu Prasad greeting people on the occasion.

"I extend my greetings to the people of the state and the country on Holi and their lives' be filled with colour... People should celebrate Holi with harmony," Kumar said.
