A MiG-29 aircraft of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Jamnagar, Gujarat, close to the international border with Pakistan on Friday. The pilot of the fighter aircraft, which was on a routine training sortie, ejected safely. A court of inquiry has been ordered. A MiG-29 of the Jamnagar air station had crashed in Kutch in September 2008. Of late, there have been several accidents involving IAF aircraft in Gujarat. A pilot had a miraculous escape after an IAF MiG-21 ‘Bison’ fighter aircraft crashed at Drufi village in November 2012. In August 2012, nine IAF personnel were killed when two Mi-17 helicopers collided in Jamnagar.
