JAMNAGAR (Gujarat): The Indian Air Force on Friday lost a Jaguar aircraft when it crashed soon after its take off from the Jamnagar airbase in Gujarat.

The fighter aircraft crashed at 1504 hours soon after its take off and the pilot managed to bail out from the plane, IAF official spokesman said here.

This is the eighth crash involving the Indian Air Force plane and the second Jaguar aircraft. The IAF lost its first Jaguar this year in January at Ambala.

The spokesman said a court of inquiry has been launched to probe the reason behind the crash.

He said prelimnary reports suggested that there was no damage on the ground when the plane crashed.
