Sunanda Pushkar had told her husband Shashi Tharoor in an email that he she did not wish to live and prayed for death, the Delhi police told a court on Monday, saying the mail along with her posts on social media can be treated as her dying declaration.

"I have no desire to live...all I pray for is death," Sunanda Pushkar wrote in an email to the senior Congress leader nine days before her death on January 17, 2014, the police said quoting the charge sheet that accuses the parliamentarian of abetting his wife's suicide.

The court reserved the order for June 5 on whether to summon Tharoor as an accused in the case. The cops also informed the court that Sunanda died due to poisoning. While 27 tablets of Alprax were found in her room, there was no clarity on the number of pills she could have consumed.

The Delhi Police had on May 14 in a charge sheet accused Tharoor of abetting her suicide and subjecting his wife to cruelty.

Police urged the court that he should be summoned as an accused in the four-and-half year-old case.

The police officials added that the 3,000 pages charge sheet had sufficient evidence against him.

The couple's domestic servant, Narayan Singh, has been named one of the key witnesses in the case.

The charge sheet,which states Tharoor as the only accused in the case under sections sections 498A (husband or his relative subjecting a woman to cruelty) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code.

The charge sheet, which includes several annexures including medical reports, said that Pushkar died within four years of her marriage with Tharoor.

The couple had entered the wedlock on August 22, 2010.The suite of the South Delhi hotel, where Pushkar had died, was sealed by the police on the night of her death for investigation. An FIR was registered by Delhi Police on January 1, 2015 against unknown persons under IPC section 302 (murder).
