A hotel and a few hostels are under the scanner in connection with the Hyderabad blasts. Though there was no official confirmation, investigators, it is learnt, believe suspects might have stayed in a hotel at Dilsukhnagar for at least a day before the blasts.

Details of the hotel are sketchy but a source said officers have seized a CCTV footage from the hotel and have questioned the hotel staff, including the manager. They have gone through the register as well.

Also, there is another theory doing the rounds: some youth who might have had a role in the blasts could have stayed in one of the numerous hostels dotting Dilsukhnagar. Apart from innumerable commercial establishments, the city has many colleges and training institutes. People from various parts of Andhra Pradesh and from other states come here to study. And they mostly stay in hostels.

Investigations are on to find out who all left the city immediately after the blasts or before it. Also, hundreds of people with criminal records, especially the suspects in the 2007 Mecca Masjid blast, have been questioned. Unconfirmed reports say one such suspect has been detained.

PM visit: Manmohan Singh on Sunday visited the blast sites and met the injured in various hospitals. He has assured them of government support.

Blast scare: In another development, G Kishan Reddy, BJP’s state president, said on Sunday he had received a threat letter talking of carrying out another blast in Begum Bazar, a wholesale market in Hyderabad.

“I received the letter by post. We are not taking it seriously. Someone might have played a prank. But I have handed over the letter to the police.” Reddy said the government should identify migrants from Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Burma staying in various colonies in the city and send them back to their countries.
